Applying for Position:
ELEMENTARY LEAD TEACHER

This opening calls for specific teaching qualifications set by the school.

CalWest's client school, in the Greater Los Angeles area, seeks multiple elementary school teachers to begin immediately.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • With input and guidance from current faculty and administrators, develop social studies, reading, writing, math, and other curriculum
  • Use technology to support instruction (e.g., Zoom, Seesaw, EdPuzzle, PearDeck, FlipGrid)
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver instruction that provides purposeful, active, and engaging learning experiences
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons encouraging collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking
  • Differentiate instruction as necessary to meet the needs of all students
  • Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress and student needs
  • Maintain an organized, welcoming classroom environment conducive to student learning
  • Use appropriate classroom management strategies so that boundaries are clear and students feel comfortable and able to learn
  • Collaborate with other faculty on school-wide curriculum, programming, and events
  • Show professionalism
  • Grow and develop professionally


Required Qualifications:

  • Meet professional teacher education requirements of the state
  • Multiple subject teaching credential/State certification
  • Relevant Elementary School teaching experience
  • Knowledge of relevant technology
  • Flexible thinker
  • Team player
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Excellent writing skills to write narrative report cards


Desirable (not required) Qualifications:

  • Experience using Writer’s Workshop, Reader’s Workshop, Developmental Reading Assessment, Fundations, Everyday Mathematics, and Responsive Classroom
  • Experience teaching in an independent school
  • Background in Special Education and/or Gifted and Talented Instruction
