Lower School Director of Student Services

This opening calls for specific administration qualifications set by the school.

CalWest's client school in the greater Miami, FL area, seeks a Lower School Director of Student Services to begin in July 2025.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Master's degree in Education Administration or related field 
  • 3-5 years of experience as a teacher, with program coordination and supervisory experience preferred, or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the integration process for students receiving special services 
  • Consult with the leadership team to hire, mentor, and train LS Faculty and Staff
  • Consult with the Leadership team regarding enrollment decisions
  • Support creating and implementing student-centered schedules 
  • Design, Deliver, and Support Professional Development 
  • Contribute to curriculum design, inventory, and implementation 
  • Advocate for instructional excellence in the least restrictive environment
  • Observe, model, and support teachers with meaningful strategies and robust training
  • Attend Professional Learning Community (PLC) meetings and Child Study Team (CST) meetings
  • Construct student action plans based on Child Study Checklist (CSC)
  • Build Learning Profiles (LPs) that are relevant, meaningful, and support students’ needs based on family-provided ed-psych testing.
  • In collaboration with students, teachers, and families, update LPs annually. 
  • Review and ensure that LPs are implemented with fidelity in all learning environments.
  • Participate in curriculum meetings advocating for child-centered decision-making that encompasses differentiation, evidence-based instruction, executive function, and other modalities. 
  • Participate in curriculum meetings supporting the quality of teaching and learning through specific teaching strategies, including special education, executive function, and other modalities. 
  • Establish and support robust communication with teachers, parents, administrators, and counselors to support the “whole child”
  • Organize and communicate testing accommodation logistics with administrators and teachers.
  • Fulfill all assigned duties and responsibilities
