UPPER SCHOOL COUNSELOR

Starts August 2019, Part-time – 60% FTE

We seek a team member who is a(n):

  • Talented, student-centered + inspiring counselor or therapist
  • Compassionate listener who is skilled + experienced in guiding students through issues of adolescence (Grades 4-8)
  • Experienced with teaching or youth-group facilitation
  • Culturally competent, engaged community member
  • Excellent communicator + collaborator
  • Stand-up comedian…or at least has a good sense of humor
  • MA in educational counseling, MFT, or MSW preferred


The Work

  • Provide short-term individual + group counseling in support of emotional development + growth
  • Collaborate with teachers to support student social + emotional health and wellness
  • Partner with parents/guardians to support student social + emotional health + wellness
  • Work closely with the Head of Upper School + US Learning Specialist in support of student well-being
  • Collaborate to design + implement a health + wellness scope and sequence
  • Co-lead a 6th Grade student Skills class with US Learning Specialist
  • Coordinate Sex Education Program with outside contractor as well as other guest-speaker opportunities
  • Organize a parent/guardian education programming centered on social + emotional health + wellness of adolescence
  • Maintain a diverse network of outside resources through which external referrals can be made
