CalWest's client school, The Buckley School, is seeking a Middle/Upper School English Teacher for the 2020-2021 school year. The Buckley School, Los Angeles' oldest K-12 coeducational preparatory school. Teaching responsibilities may include AP courses. This instructor will be responsible for all aspects of teaching and helping to develop the curriculum for the courses they teach. This individual will also be responsible for an advisory of 6-8 students and is expected to be a collaborative and engaged community member at Buckley, enthusiastically participating in the English department and among the greater faculty.
Bachelor’s degree in English or a related field
Previous experience teaching at the upper school level
Demonstrated competency in diversity, multiculturalism, inclusion, and equity
Ability to support classrooms with student-centered instruction and effective assessments
Proficiency in using technology in instruction
Exceptional interpersonal skills
Proven ability to collaborate across and within departments
Preferred candidates will have
An advanced degree in English, education, or a related field
Experience teaching AP English classes
More than five years classroom experience teaching writing and literature
Experience teaching/working with middle school students
Aptitude connecting the study of English to the contemporary world
Significant professional developments interests and a demonstrated commitment to professional growth
