Kindergarten Teacher

This opening calls for specific teaching qualifications set by the school.

CalWest's partner school in the Greater Los Angeles area seeks a Kindergarten Teacher to begin August 2025.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree; credential or Master’s in related field, preferred.    
  • Minimum Experience: 3 years of teaching in a lower elementary setting. Strong computer and technology skills with variety of hardware (e.g., smart boards, iPads, laptops) and software (e.g., LMS platforms, Nearpod, Kahoot, Zoom, etc.) .
  • Knowledge: Research-based teaching strategies, Common Core standards, technology resources, smartboard use
  • The successful applicant is subject to a background check. 

Responsibilities

  • Implement the school’s educational program which is aligned with the goals and objectives of the school’s mission and follows Common Core and State educational standards
  • Create and support a dynamic classroom environment incorporating active learning and research-based teaching strategies
  • Incorporates skills of collaboration, communication, creativity, and critical thinking
  • Differentiate instruction for children in varied levels in areas such as Math and Reading/Language Arts
  • Foster students’ social-emotional development through specific programs (e.g., Responsive Classroom)
  • Conduct regular assessment of student growth using a variety of tools and products
  • Maintain regular and constructive communication with parents regarding student progress
  • Utilize organizational and instructional technological programs (e.g., Schoology, Canvas, Kahoot, Brain Pop, etc.)
  • Integrate a variety of technology hardware such as Smart Boards, iPads, Chromebooks, etc.
  • Supervise students on the playground and during arrival and dismissal
  • Participate in a collaborative and collegial faculty culture 
  • Have experience teaching remotely when needed
