SOCIAL SCIENCE/ENGLISH TEACHER

This opening calls for specific teaching qualifications set by the school.

Social Science/English Teacher

CalWest Educators Placement partner school in Los Angeles County, has an opening for an Upper School Teacher to teach social science and English beginning with the 2020-2021 school year. Classes will include AP US History. This teacher will be responsible for all aspects of teaching our curriculum and will be responsible for developing and maintaining curriculum maps. This individual will also be responsible for an advisory of 6-8 students and is expected to be a collaborative and engaged community member, enthusiastically participating in the Social Science department and in the greater faculty. Such participation will include eagerly finding ways to collaborate with one’s peers, and engaging in professional development.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree
  • Experience teaching social science and English at the upper school level including AP courses
  • Demonstrated competency in diversity, multiculturalism, inclusion and equity
  • Ability to support classrooms with student-centered instruction and effective assessments
  • Proven ability to collaborate across and within departments
  • Proficiency with current classroom technology as well as Microsoft Office
  • Exceptional writing and interpersonal skills

Preferred candidates will have

  • Masters degree and/or teaching credential
  • Demonstrated leadership in diversity, multiculturalism, inclusion, equity and social justice
  • Aptitude connecting the study of history and English to the contemporary world
  • Significant professional developments interests and a demonstrated commitment to professional growth
  • Experience teaching AP English classes
