High School Humanities Teacher

This opening calls for specific teaching qualifications set by the school.

CalWest's Client School in the greater Los Angeles Area seeks a High School Humanities Teacher to begin August 2025.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, History, Education, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Teaching credential and/or significant high school teaching experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in teaching English and/or History at the high school level.
  • Strong knowledge of best practices in writing instruction and literary analysis.
  • Excellent communication, classroom management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to integrate Jewish cultural awareness into a general studies classroom in a respectful and inclusive manner.

Responsibilities

  • English Instruction: Teach engaging and rigorous high school English courses with a focus on literature, writing, grammar, and analytical thinking.
  • History Instruction: Teach one or more high school history courses (e.g., U.S. History, World History, Government) based on expertise and departmental needs.
  • Curriculum Design: Develop and refine curriculum that aligns with state standards and supports the school's academic vision.
  • Differentiated Instruction: Use student-centered strategies and provide individualized support to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
  • Assessment and Feedback: Implement varied assessments to monitor student progress and provide timely, meaningful feedback.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues to align curriculum, share best practices, and contribute to a cohesive Humanities program.
  • Classroom Culture: Create an inclusive, respectful, and engaging classroom that supports student growth and reflects the values of our Orthodox Jewish community.
