Resource Specialist

This opening calls for specific teaching qualifications set by the school.

CalWest client school in the greater Los Angeles area seeks a Resource Specialist (RSP) to begin July 31, 2025.

Qualifications

  • Valid California Educational Specialist Credential (RSP) or CURRENT enrollment in a University Internship program
  • Proof of right to work
  • Ability to pass the Department of Justice background check
  • TB test results from within the last 18 months.
  • Prior experience working with children
  • 3 professional references preferred
  • Prior experience as an RSP teacher in a K-12 public school
  • Training or experience with Welligent
  • Understanding of charter school culture and politics

Responsibilities

  • Team-teaching, stations/centers, parallel, and alternative teaching styles
  • Co-planning with General Education teachers, quiz/test accommodations/modifications, and planning lessons to monitor individual students’ IEP goals.
  • Weekly tracking of RSP services provided
  • Maintain a weekly paper copy of RSP services
  • Running weekly service reports and filing
  • Printing and filing the Monthly Service Report/Log
  • Updating IEP goals, progress reports for assigned grade level, and submitting copies tothe Director of Special Education prior to report cards at the end of each quarter
  • Completion of all required sections at least 24 hours in advance of a scheduled IEP Meeting
  • Completion of the most updated “IEP Meeting Checklist” (available on the Google Drive in the IEP Guidebook folder)
  • Completion of “After IEP Meeting Checklist” (available on the Google Drive in the IEP Guidebook folder)

Teaching

  • Create lesson plans and teach Reading, Writing, and two math classes
  • Incorporate small group instruction activities led by a Paraprofessional
  • Include individual activities for students to practice their IEP goals
  • Co-Teach Science/History class with a Gen. Ed. Teacher
