The Buckley School, Los Angeles’ oldest K-12 coeducational learning institution, has an opening for a Kindergarten Homeroom Teacher for the 2019-2020 school year. This position is responsible for all aspects of teaching the kindergarten curriculum and managing a Lower School homeroom. This position includes partnering with another lead teacher in the homeroom as well as maintaining ongoing communication with parents, writing prose reports, collaborating extensively with the other kindergarten homeroom lead teachers, and maintaining the vision for this critical entry point into the Buckley Lower School.
Bachelors’ degree in early childhood education
Masters and/or credential in early childhood or early elementary education
Strong writing, editing, and spelling skills
3-5 years of previous early childhood/early elementary teaching experience
Demonstrated competency in diversity, multiculturalism, inclusion, equity and social justice
Proficiency with classroom technology including but not limited to use of interactive white board and iPads
Preferred candidates will have:
Familiarity with Singapore Math and/or Math in Focus: The Singapore Approach
Demonstrated leadership in diversity, multiculturalism, inclusion, equity and social justice
Demonstrated understanding of diverse learning profiles and 21st century teaching skills
Familiarity with the Responsive Classroom
Familiarity with writing workshop and reading workshop
Experience with classroom technology including use of interactive white boards, iPads, and document cameras
